Según el Artículo 158 de la Lopnna, el Consejo de Protección de Niños, Niñas y Adolescentes es el órgano administrativo que, en el municipio y por mandato de la sociedad, se encarga de asegurar la protección en caso de amenaza o violación de los derechos y garantías de uno o varios niños, niñas o adolescentes, individualmente considerados. Este Consejo es permanente y tendrá autonomía en el ejercicio de las atribuciones previstas en la Lopnna y demás normas del ordenamiento jurídico.
